Every Friday from 6:30–9 pm, all members are invited to our popular Social Tennis evening. A relaxed, friendly fixture that’s been a highlight of the Sphynx calendar for years. It’s a great way to meet new people, enjoy some easy-going matches, and play without pressure.
Members can enjoy mixed doubles, men’s and ladies’ doubles, and singles. After play, everyone is welcome to head to the clubhouse for drinks and good company, and if you’d rather skip the tennis, you’re very welcome to join us just for the social side.
Some members also meet for Social Tennis on Sundays from 2.30pm to practise and catch up ahead of matches. However you like to play or socialise, there’s always a place for you at Sphynx.
Social Tennis
Sphynx fields six teams in the Southport & District Tennis Leagues, each made up of four men and four women playing a mix of men’s, ladies’ and mixed doubles against other local clubs.
Our newest sixth team, introduced in 2023, has welcomed many new members and recent players to competitive tennis, and all six teams entered the 2025 season with momentum and enthusiasm.
Our teams are friendly, well-organised, and led by experienced, supportive captains. We’re especially proud that our prestigious 1st Team has been Division 1 Champions for eleven years running.
