The No 1 Southport Tennis Club

We are a friendly local tennis club in the heart of Southport, Merseyside. Tucked away on Ashdown Close, just off Scarisbrick New Road and close to KGV Sixth Form College, we have a proud history of bringing tennis to the heart of the community. Our welcoming club was founded in 1920, and we’ve continued to thrive and adapt - even into the 21st century. Our top-class facilities include six brand new, blue and green tiger turf courts with floodlights and a modern clubhouse designed for social events. We are proudly home to the Southport & District League Division 1 Champions nine years’ running. Sphynx is delighted to be home to the illustrious Chris Parkes Tennis Academy – led by renowned Head Coach Chris Parkes. Coaching is also provided by female coach Natalie Wall, including our famous Ladies Only Classes and junior sessions. Tennis is a sport for all, and we are keen to encourage everyone – young and old – to pick up a racket and have some fun! From beginner tennis coaching to fun-filled training sessions, our social calendar provides you with the best ways to get out and play.

Sphynx is the most established Southport tennis club, providing our community with the highest quality tennis facilities all year round. Our friendly club is run by its members, to ensure a welcoming, fun and sociable environment for all male and female players. Southport Tennis Academy - Chris Parkes

The club is also proud to be the home of the Chris Parkes Tennis Academy, which offers some of the leading tennis coaching programmes in the North of England. The coaching team is led by Chris Parkes, former Lancashire Coach of the Year who represented Great Britain as a Junior alongside the likes of Andy Murray. If you’re based in Merseyside or Lancashire, this expert tennis training is only a short distance away.
